It was my great pleasure to recently meet with Thomas George “Tommy” Thompson this year at the NAHC Annual Conference. Tommy is an extraordinary champion for homecare and hospice. In the early days of Celtic Healthcare, Tommy served as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services and wrote many of the laws that affect our industry. Tommy officially launched his campaign on September 19, 2011 to run for the Wisconsin seat in the U.S. Senate in 2012.
Tommy Thompson is the kind of champion we need to help our voices be heard! The upcoming elections are going to impact all of us. Healthcare reform is a major issue. I consider it my responsibility as your leader to be an advocate for our future, but each of you has a voice too. We all need to be advocates!
One simple way to take action right now is by letting your concerns be known to Congress via this website: http://www.americansagainstfraud.org/. By filling in your name and address, you can send a letter expressing concern about the Medicare and Medicaid programs losing tens of billions of dollars to
wasteful and fraudulent spending. It will urge Congress to reject proposals to cut Medicare services and increase fees (including Copays) for beneficiaries in the upcoming Select Super Committee negotiations and instead achieve savings through strong program integrity improvements and targeted efforts to
fight fraud and abuse.
Per the American’s Against Fraud Coalition, “This doesn’t just make financial sense; it’s simply the right thing to do.”
America’s future is at stake. Be an advocate – let your voice be heard.
