At Celtic Healthcare, great pride and importance are placed on social responsibility to the community, employees and the environment.
Tonya Miller, Regional Director for Celtic Healthcare’s Central and Eastern PA and Maryland divisions, recently spoke on corporate social responsibility to the Carlisle Business Women’s Forum alongside representatives from Starbucks and Hershey’s.
“Celtic’s corporate social responsibility supports our mission and guides what we stand for,” states Miller. “Our core values of teamwork, integrity, accountability, mutual respect and service excellence support our mission to care for more patients with extraordinary customer service.”
As a community healthcare provider of homecare and hospice services, Celtic Healthcare is committed to healthy aging in place. Through the utilization of technology, community engagement and education to promote chronic disease management and health in our communities, major successes have been achieved in reducing acute care rehospitalizations for patients with chronic illness. Celtic has reduced these rehospitalizations within 30 days to less than 6 percent as compared to an industry average of 29 percent.
Community involvement and engagement projects through Celtic Charities and other local programs have supported PA Vent Camp, Project Share, Harvest
Health Programs, Hospice Community and Long-Term Care Advisory Boards, community education, Great Share programs, and individual outreach to families in need.
Employee health and wellness, leadership development, diversity/inclusion, and recognition programs support and mentor our employees to be the best they
can be.
Environmental consciousness through innovative use of technology improves efficiency and reduces waste by utilizing virtual care programs, electronic medical records, a virtually paperless organization, and opportunities for employees to work from home to reduce commutes and the need for costly office space.
Celtic’s vehicle lease program utilizes more energy efficient cars and ensures maintenance, which improves fuel efficiency and other environmental issues, while continually assessing other more efficient means of travel.
“We are proud of our progress and accomplishments toward corporate social responsibility,” comments Arnie Burchianti, CEO, “but we know there is
much more that can be done. I fully support our homecare, hospice, and other support teams as they create innovative and creative improvements to our care delivery that improve our environment and support our employees and community.”
