Growing CompaniesCeltic is the #16 Fastest Growing Company in Pittsburgh

For the second year in a row, Celtic Healthcare has made the 2008 Pittsburgh 100, the Pittsburgh Business Times ranking of the Pittsburgh area’s fastest-growing, privately held companies.

“We give all of the credit to our employees. Since our 2008 ranking is a result of financial data from 2005-2007, this year’s award primarily reflects organic growth, which we owe all to our team of staff,” says Mike Eperesi, Vice President of Financial Services. “With all of our acquisitions in 2008, we look forward to next year’s ranking.”

As a practicing physical therapist directly out of college, Celtic Healthcare Founder and CEO Arnie Burchianti noticed a stark disconnect between the various disciplines of healthcare providers that were caring for a patient. Nurses weren’t communicating their patients’ needs to physical therapists and physical therapists weren’t communicating with occupational therapists and so on. As a result, patients weren’t receiving top-notch care. At Duquesne University, Burchianti was taught that integrated healthcare was the key to quality care, and he immediately understood the need for an organization that practiced this vital concept. In 2000, Arnie set out to form a Medicare-certified home healthcare agency, centered on strong multi-disciplinary communication and streamlined information technology. At a time when Medicare-certified agencies were closing left and right, Burchianti was confident that his unique model would blossom.

“Even though we see our growth figures daily, it’s always an honor to receive recognition for this,” says CEO Arnie Burchianti. “And to be honest, we know it’s not stopping here either. In healthcare, as long as the primary focus is on the patients’ well being, it translates into satisfied employees, a strong corporate culture, and plenty of opportunities for growth and expansion.”

Celtic Goes Wild with Sharing at the Lawrence County Fair

Single Lwarence FairThere’s no better way to celebrate the month of August than the Lawrence County Fair! And this year, Celtic Healthcare played a big part in making the fair that much more special for people who attended. Led by Sue Werner and Marianna Rand, Celtic Healthcare’s Lawrence team took the Celtic’s Great Share concept to the fairgrounds from August 11th – August 16th by passing out free popcorn and bottles of water to table passersby and unsuspecting attendees.

“We had a great big popcorn machine that sent the smell of fresh popcorn wafting through the air. We had people coming up to us left and right, checking out our table and what we have to offer,” says Marianna Rand, Celtic Nurse Liaison for Lawrence.

Dressed in Celtic green uniforms, Celtic volunteers and their families also stepped outside the barn to spread the Celtic cheer by taking water and popcorn to individuals who looked like they needed a surprise to brighten their day.

Group Lawrence County“We had the opportunity to tell numerous people who we are and what we do. And many people went home each night with a little Celtic reminder. It was a great success, a teambuilding experience, and another far-reaching opportunity for Celtic to touch lives in Lawrence County,” says Sue Werner, Manager of Celtic Healthcare of Lawrence.
Be sure to keep us in mind if your community is hosting an upcoming festival or fair. We would love the opportunity to consider participating!

MedalsSummer is Ending, but our Focus on Fitness isn’t
(And our GOLD proves it!)

There’s hardly a better time to focus on fitness than fall. The heat dissipates and the air turns into a crisp breeze, eager to cool off a healthy sweat. Parks and mid-day streets become less crowded, with children back in school.

Sound wonderful? It is.

Developing the positive routines NOW at the start of fall is more than important. Once the dead of winter and our food-filled holidays come around, the challenge becomes greater.

Celtic Healthcare encourages you not to fall out of your health focus in fall. Recently, Celtic Healthcare took first place in the ChangeRx CEO Challenge, a 13-week fitness challenge along with 23 other CEOs in the Pittsburgh region. As a result, we WON the opportunity to give Celtic Charities $7,500 and another $7,500 to other various charities of our choice. We also WON the motivation to continue this dedication to health and wellness, which we are going to put to use as the rest of the Celtic Healthcare organization follows CEO Arnie Burchianti’s lead in this journey.

“Let’s all fight for the larger prize – a healthy lifestyle for us all.”
- CEO Arnie Burchianti
