Celtic Education Team Hosts Remington Report Virtual Conference
Public health officials state that geographic spread of the influenza A (H1N1) virus continues to evolve, with the World Health Organization (WHO) reporting 1025 laboratory-confirmed cases of infection with the virus and 26 deaths across 20 countries. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is reporting at least 700 probable cases in 44 states and 1 death in the United States.

At a CDC media briefing, Richard Besser, MD, acting director of the CDC, noted that their numbers likely represent an underestimate of the cases that are actually taking place. Currently, of the 286 confirmed cases, there are 35 known hospitalizations in the United States. Of the cases, 62% are in persons younger than 18 years.

This teleconferences addresses what home care agencies can do now to explore prevention strategies, identify clinical interventions, infection control, and educate patients and their families.
